چکیده

Disclosed are fused ring bridge, ring-locked dyes that form thermally stable photorefractive compositions. The fused ring bridge structures are x-conjugated bonds in benzene-, naphthaleneor anthracene-derived fused ring systems that connect donor and acceptor groups. The donor and acceptor groups contribute to a high molecular dipole moment and linear polarizability anisotropy. The polarization characteristics of the dye molecules are stabilized since the bonds in the fused ring bridge are not susceptible to rotation, reducing the opportunity for photoisomerization. The dyes are compatible with polymeric compositions, including thermoplastics. The dyes are electrically neutral but have charge transport, electronic and orientational properties such that upon illumination of a composition containing the dye, the dve facilitates refractive index modulation and a ahotore4,999,809 A 311991 Schildkraut et al. ........ 3651106 5,064,264 A 1111991 Ducharme et al. .......... 3851130

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives

The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...

Calculations of electric dipole moments and static dipole polarizabilities based on the two-component normalized elimination of the small component method.

The analytical energy gradient and Hessian of the two-component Normalized Elimination of the Small Component (2c-NESC) method with regard to the components of the electric field are derived and used to calculate spin-orbit coupling (SOC) corrected dipole moments and dipole polarizabilities of molecules, which contain elements with high atomic number. Calculated 2c-NESC dipole moments and isotr...

An Atomic Capacitance–Polarizability Model for the Calculation of Molecular Dipole Moments and Polarizabilities

A classical interaction model for the calculation of molecular polarizabilities has been investigated. The model is described by atomic capacitancies, polarizabilities, and a parameter related to the size of the atom, where one set of parameters has been employed for each element. The model has been parameterized for the elements H, C, N, O, F, and Cl from quantum chemical calculations of the m...

Does One-third Scheme of PBE0 Functional Dominate Over PBE0 for Electronic Properties of Transition Metal Compounds?

The one-third paradigm of PBE0 density functional, PBE0-1/3, has shown to be a successful method for various properties. In this paper, the applicability of PBE0-1/3 is put into broader perspective for transition metals chemistry. As a comparative study, the performance of PBE0 and PBE0-1/3 has been assessed for geometries and vibrational frequencies of some transition metal hydrides and transi...

Accountability of Modern Adiabatic Connection-Based Double-Hybrids Constructed from Cubic and Quadratic Integrand Functions for Dipole Polarizabilities of Water Nanoclusters

In this work, we dissect the performance of  two modern Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE)-based double-hybrid (DH) density functionals to predict the isotropic and anisotropic polarizabilities of water nanoclusters (H2O)n [n = 2-6]. The considered models include the cubic integrand (CI) and quadratic integrand (QI) functions as well as the spin-opposite-scaled...
